Care for your tags/plates

To maintain their appearance, it's essential to protect them from corrosives like sweat, fly spray, soap, dirt etc. Avoid abrasive cleaners and tools. Our brass and nickel nameplates are coated with a baked-on clear lacquer like a car finish.

For cleaning, easiest is to use a bit of dish soap, followed by non-abrasive automotive wax. It's recommended to wax the plates after cleaning your leather and at least two-four+ times a year. You can also use a clear shoe polish as well. Black shoe polish if the letters are turning a bit white. For stall plaques, clean them with a damp cloth and soap, and wax them twice a year.

Keep the plates dry, as liquids can damage the lacquer. When you receive your nameplates, they need to be waxed right away. In areas with high salt or pollution, more frequent cleaning and waxing is necessary.

This will help keep your beautiful tags and plates looking good!

Care for your leather

Your leather needs care and attention to keep it lasting. When it first arrives you should give it some love before using and give it a wipe down with a good quality leather conditioner. This will prevent cracks and peeling and depending on the product you use, may also help create a barrier for the elements.

Regular checks and cleanings are important, use a quality leather cleaner. We love the Effax line up! Be sure your leather is completely dry before conditioning.

Dog collars or halter’s being used outside, we recommend something that has a moisture repellent effect. Again the Effax Leather Balsam is amazing!
